Description

Daemons! is an upcoming video game that features isometric pixel art and satisfying turn-based combat.

Drawing on fan-favorite elements from games like Pokémon, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Stardew Valley, Daemons! is a vocal love letter to some of the most beloved games of a generation.

Combining the timeless charm of nostalgic pixel art with the sensibilities of modern day game design, Daemons! sets out to make a game and world that fills players with joy at every turn. It has been in active development since the spring of 2021.

Features

  • The key difference with our world and the game's world is that, in theirs, their first contact with daemons was friendly, whereas ours was hellish.
  • Daemons live in a plane of existence that overlaps our own. Only some people with "the sight" are able to naturally interact and find daemons.
  • All daemons have a shared visual queue: a star-shaped element on their form. It can be in a pattern, the shape of a nose, or similar detail. What we consider to be an occult star is derived from this shared detail.
  • Humans an daemons can form mutual Pacts, allowing the daemons to be called on for help. Different daemons want different things to forge a Pact.
  • Archdaemons are powerful daemons that grant you additional powers, such as the ability to move boulders or teleport.
  • Your character gains the ability to see into the Dae much later in life than usual. In doing so, you inherit the local daemon club—what equates to a gym in Pokémon—that's in serious need of repairs.
  • Your quest will take in search of ways to rebuild your club, but it only starts there!

Responsibilities

  • I developed a runtime level editor, script block system similar to scratch, dialogue system, animation system, 3D isometric tilemap paint tool with 2D tiles, user interface, combat flow, etc.
